While moving for development, it faces the challenge of growth of an entrepreneurial community in the country. Women, who constitute an important role in the community, are lagging far behind men. Hence the issue of economic independence and empowerment of women emerges as an important discourse on the way South Africa goes to achieve in near future. Like India and Brazil, it is one of the fast growing economies in the world but while looking through the prism of gender equity, the projection shows otherwise. Taking all these into account, the paper is intended to analyse the present scenario of women entrepreneurs in South Africa, governmental approaches to address and resolve their issues and roadmap for better women entrepreneurship environment in South Africa.
